Many of the world’s great cities enjoy high density, community connections and well activated retail precincts – and Melbourne’s CBD is well placed to join them. A recent addition to the CBD’s rich retail offering is Queens Place mixed use precinct.
At the foot of Flagstaff Gardens and bound by Queen, A’Beckett and La Trobe Streets this recent addition to the CBD’s rich retail offering has re – activated the local streetscape by providing 6200 sqm of vertical mixed-use retail and commercial, including a pedestrian friendly piazza.
Product and service focussed retail have been quick to take up the opportunity to join the Queens Place precinct to service the many residents, CBD workers, tourists and the broader community drawn to the CBD each day. Open for over a year, the precinct’s anchor tenant and first to open was Woolworths Metro Supermarket and BWS featured across 1630sqm over 2 levels.
“ The opening of Woolworths Metro Supermarket’s largest retail offering in the CBD has been a major drawcard for our precinct, and we now have a strong range of service based retailers added to the mix.” Says Tristan Fusinato, Development Director, Queens Place.
“Our residents and demographic studies has shown us the popularity and appeal of eastern goods and services with the influx of international students, and the broader acceptance of Asian culture” says Fusinato of the secret to the precinct’s success.
Woolworths Metro Supermarket is now joined by Ribbon Hair salon, a Korean hairdresser with specialist cutters and stylists, Mr Dad Asian Grocer, a new destinational shop with bespoke packaged and fresh foods from Korea, China and Japan that are unique and often hard to find.
Later this month, the League of Pets, providing pet grooming services and products designed for inner city residents will open, to an anticipated level of high demand..
